Dead website - CoolGui - 11:12:56 AM
I'm getting the impression that you guys don't really care to have a website for the channel. It's no big deal to me, it's just that in the past I've had people ask about having it. Do we need more/different features? Someone speak up. If there is something I can do to make this better, I'll do it. However I can't just constantly post news/forums, it takes more than just one guy to make this sort of thing a true "community", or even an extension to our IRC community.

What an interesting piece of spam - CoolGui - 4:47:30 PM
Just got this today:

Greetings,

We need a vendor who can offer immediate supply. I'm offering $5,000 US dollars just for referring a vender which is (Actually RELIABLE in providing the below equipment) Contact details of vendor required, including name and phone #. If they turn out to be reliable in supplying the below equipment I'll immediately pay you $5,000. We prefer to work with vendor in the Boston/New York area.

1. The mind warper generation 4 Dimensional Warp Generator # 52 4350a series wrist watch with z80 or better memory adapter. If in stock the AMD Dimensional Warp Generator module containing the GRC79 induction motor, two I80200 warp stabilizers, 256GB of SRAM, and two Analog Devices isolinear modules, This unit also has a menu driven GUI accessible on the front panel XID display. All in 1 units would be great if reliable models are available

2. The special 23200 or Acme 5X24 series time transducing capacitor with built in temporal displacement. Needed with complete jumper/auxiliary system

3. A reliable crystal Ionizor with unlimited memory backup.

4. I will also pay for Schematics, layouts, and designs directly from the manufature which can be used to build this equipment from readily available parts.

If your vendor turns out to be reliable, I owe you $5,000.

Email his details to me at: info@federalfundingprogram.com

Please do not reply directly back to this email as it will only be bounced back to you.

Yeah, it's funny, but why would someone go to the trouble of mass spamming people with it? funny.

I just realized... - CoolGui - 2:51:36 PM
I've gotten a couple of people who offered to write up a faq for me. I'm not even sure who they were, but they were generous. It finally dawned on me that nowhere on the site do I officially say "#Computers IRC channel on the Undernet". I figured the name implied enough, but I think perhaps some people have gotten directed here and not known what it was about, other than computers. The FAQ really should be about the channel, it should cover the basic "rules", which are really mostly just common courtesy. How should I word the title of the pages so it's obvious this is about the IRC channel? :)

Palm Announces Acquisition of Handspring - CoolGui - 11:21:31 AM
This is funny... The founder of handspring was an Ex-Palm executive. He didn't like the way the company was going (or something like that) and made his own company and licensed Palm OS. Now Palm buys this company. Regardless of how silly this sounds, I think someone made a lot of money. :P

Martha Stewart jail or no jail? - gnuman - 8:44:54 PM
WEll it seems like Martha Stewart has been endited for fraud and insider trading with ImClone stock.

What's going to happen to her and her company if and for how long she goes to jail? I personally feel that its about time that the SEC and DOJ crack down on fraudlent tradings and punish those who commit it whether thay are
CEOs or what not.

They are people who are richer but a crime is still a crime!

I wonder what items of her's she will put into her cell to make it a nicer and more homier place.

Self-Destructing DVDs - gnuman - 6:33:21 PM
Well it seems like Disney will now create the self-destructing DVD which will last 48 hours.

The surface corrides due to oxygen in the air thus making the DVDs unreadable. I guess personal vaccums will save it from corrosion :D

Bad idea in a way it will produce an increase in garbage and waste as well as pollutants. I guess money is more important than the environment.

Here's the link to the article:
